Fidelity has set two key net zero targets:

  • Halve the carbon footprint of our investment portfolios by 2030, from a 2020 baseline, and reach net zero by 2050
  • Achieve net zero emissions across Fidelity’s own corporate operations by 2030 (See our Corporate Sustainability Report 2021 for details.)

We plan to meet our investment portfolio target by:

  • Further integrating climate change analysis into portfolio construction and issuer analysis, using Fidelity's Climate Rating, and investing in net zero issuers and climate solutions
  • Engaging with companies on minimum climate standards and voting against those that do not meet them
  • Targeting the highest emitters with transition engagement, initially focusing on thermal coal. Over time, we will phase out thermal coal exposure by 2030 for OECD markets and by 2040 globally
